Meet Kristen Sonday, GP

Every day this week, we'll introduce you to one of our GPs who's dedicated to changing the face of founders in Chicago. Today, meet Kristen Sonday, the Co-Founder and COO of Paladin.

Why is LongJump’s mission important to you? As one of only two Latina founders in Chicago who has raised over $1M in VC funding, I’m passionate about changing the face of what successful entrepreneurs look like in the city. There are so many talented entrepreneurs who don’t have access to networks or capital to get started, so I’m excited to leverage the LongJump community to elevate Chicago’s scene.

Tell us about your current company and the problem you’re solving? What is your role there? I’m the Co-founder and COO at Paladin, whose mission is to increase access to justice by helping legal teams run more efficient pro bono programs. We work with law firms, in-house corporate teams, and legal services organizations to connect individuals in need with pro bono lawyers, helping to close the justice gap.

What are you looking for in LongJump portfolio companies? I’m excited to find founders who are obsessed with the problem they're solving, and who have a solid understanding of their market and how their competitive advantage can win it.

How are you most excited to contribute to Chicago-based companies? I can especially help founders with B2B sales strategies, hiring, and legal/operations. Also, I’m always here to help figure out your competitive advantage and how to leverage it to scale the business.

What is your favorite thing to do in Chicago? I love all things plants, so a few of my favorite spots are the Garfield Park Conservatory, Chicago Botanic Garden, and the Morton Arboretum!
