Tips for Applying to LongJump from Luis Suarez, Founder of Sanarai
Thanks for sharing your tips with other founders, Luis! To start us off, tell us about Sanarai and your mission.
Sanarai is an online platform that connects the Latinx community to mental health professionals in Latin America to provide culturally sensitive, Spanish-language emotional support at accessible prices. Our mission is to increase the Latinx community’s access to high quality mental health services.
Why did you decide to apply to LongJump, and why did you ultimately decide to partner with us?
I was excited to hear about the launch of LongJump right when we were starting our fundraising process because our missions are aligned. I partnered with LongJump because I liked the team a lot from the interview process and because it adds much more value than just the investment.
What would you tell future applicants about how to best prepare their applications, and how to approach their interviews with us?
The application is very straightforward, and I would suggest that founders apply even if they think they’re too early for VC investment. Approach the interviews as conversations and be prepared to answer questions.
What's been the most valuable thing that LongJump has helped you and the company accomplish since we invested?
We love to have the support of founders that are ahead of us in their journey. We have a monthly touchpoint which is very helpful to bounce ideas off of the team. Since getting our first check from LongJump, we were able to close our pre-seed round and now are well on our way to reach our growth objectives.
What one piece of advice would you give other founders raising their first round of outside capital?
Look for investors that add more value than just money. Consider raising from early stage institutional investors like LongJump because it will help get plugged into the overall ecosystem and grow your network.
